When the referee’s whistle blew to signal the start of the Manning Cup match on Saturday November 28, 2015, many Jamaica College supporters were missing from the stands, out of fear and disappointment. After the 4-0 beaten in the Flow Cup, some thought that was the end of the Griffin.
Jamaica College, proved to be true warriors and fought fiercely to reclaim the Manning Cup by beating St. Georges College, 1 – 0. That was all they needed….one love!
Here are some sound bites from the celebration on November 30, 2015.
Mr. Michael Bernard, Board Chairman
“Jamaica College took a sip from the Walker Cup and the Flow Cup but they refused to drink, because they know that the Manning Cup is theirs…True champions, good leaders go back and strategise…That is what we did. Team work makes the dream work.”
Mr. Ian Forbes
“It has been a tough season; a rocky road. We hit a huge bump and lost support. This teaches loyalty. Stick to your team at all times. Requisite discipline, appropriate conduct ensures success.”
Mr. Ruel Reid
“When I looked at the faces of the college men, after the Super Cup, I saw disappointment. I saw hurt. The Griffin was wounded – in an instant of battle- it was struck down… The only true blue has risen! We have put St. Georges Colleges out of commission!”
