Michael Bernard holds a Bachelor of Science in Forest Management, Bachelor of Arts in Business and a minor in economics from Washington State University. He made the USA National Deans list and in 1983 topped the Forest Management graduates at Washington State University, copping the award for ‘Most Outstanding Forestry Senior’. In January 1984 he attained a BSc. summa cum laude in Forest Management and BA. summa cum laude in Business Administration.
Mr. Bernard served as Forest Plantations Manager for four years at Forest Industries Development Company Limited in Jamaica, then sought to pursue his MBA following acceptance to the prestigious Harvard Business School.
Michael Bernard is the former General Manager of Jamaica Biscuit Company. In 1995 he was appointed Managing Director of the Cigarette Company of Jamaica Limited as well as Managing Director of the Agricultural Products of Jamaica Limited and was appointed to the Carreras Group Board in 1997. In 2010 he announced his retirement as Managing Director of the Carreras Group. Mr. Bernard serves on the board of a number of other entities and is currently the Board Chairman of his alma mater Jamaica College.
