Giving back to the Community. Jamaica College partnered with a non-profit organization in the area to host a Christmas treat at JC on Saturday, December 15, 2018. Hosted for the second year, there were over 200 children in attendance, doubling the attendance of last year.
Kairos Network is a faith-based non-profit organization that focuses on mentoring children and youth into positive attitudes and behaviours. For several years we have hosted a Christmas treat in one or two of the communities where we work.
The last two years (2017 and 2018) have seen our organization collaborate with Jamaica College to host this event. This has allowed us to gather children from twelve different inner-city communities into one venue. This year we hosted more than 200 children. Each child left with a Christmas present. Jamaica College staff members and students were on-site to help create a safe and fun-filled experience. The school has sought to encourage outreach and volunteerism in its students through this venture.
We are grateful for this partnership with Jamaica College and the donations of several sponsors. We hope it will continue.
