JC – JCDC 2023-MUSIC

Here are the JCDC 2023 Entries. Music from Jamaica College, making its mark in the cultural circle.

Shawn Myrie became the first Class 4 keyboardist and youngest for Jamaica College to enter the JCDC competition under the “Instrumental Own Choice” category winning a Gold Medal at the parish finals on debut, also becoming the first and youngest for Jamaica College to win the National Finals on debut receiving “Best Instrumental Solo”. In the Parish awards, Shawn Myrie became the first Class 4 pianist for Jamaica College to enter JCDC competition under the “Piano Forte” category i.e., “Classical Piano” winning a Silver Medal on debut.


Chad Wilson became the first Class 5 pianist for Jamaica College to enter JCDC competition under the “Piano Forte” category i.e., “Classical Piano” winning a Gold Medal on debut also, becoming the first national finalist for that same category

Neil Stewart became the first recorder soloist and Class 3 recorder soloist to enter the JCDC competition and also the first recorder Gold Medalist on debut.

Daquan Swearing became the second recorder soloist and Class 3 recorder soloist to enter the JCDC competition and winning a Bronze Medals on debut.

John Michael Thomas became the first Trap set soloist and Class 5 soloist for Jamaica College to enter JCDC competition and winning a Bronze Medal on debut.

Jaylen Allen became the first bass soloist and Class 5 bass soloist for Jamaica College to enter JCDC competition under the category “Instrumental Own Choice” and winning a Bronze Medal on debut.
