Jamaica College Launches the opening of their newly donated Podcast Room
Donovan Alleyne and his team from INNOVATIONEDU, an USA-based team that is introducing new and innovative ideas to the Education industry, chose Jamaica College as the school to donate a fully furnished Podcast room.
INNOVATIONEDU first learnt about the forward-thinking JC back in October 2019 at the ERC Conference.
Here was the start of the new era of revolutionary ideas and strategies.
INNOVATIONEDU are pioneers in STREAM [Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Art & Mathematics] workshops in the USA. Now with a successful track record, they are branching out into the Caribbean.
On September 27, 2025 we had the opening of the Podcast room, of which RJR provided coverage which was featured during “A Ray of Hope” in Prime Time news as the first school to be outfitted. The coverage was also shared on YouTube.

Fifteen members of the JC Family had the opportunity to be trained in using the Podcast room equipment. The room included green screen technology, lighting equipment, sound proof material, Rode and DJI brand products which are excellent for clarity of sound and noise reduction attributes. Also included are portable items such as a mac laptop, an iPhone cell phone, extenders, Gimbal stabilizer and DJI Microphones.
With this technology and equipment, Jamaica College ‘hit the ground running’. Different groups have been organizing their content and practicing for their first podcast videos. We expect by October 23, when we return from the mid-term break, that we will begin sharing podcasts. Meanwhile, we have used the room’s equipment and the portable equipment to accomplish other content.
- Uniformed lighting to take 6th form photos for IDs and profile pictures for our database
- Online presentations
- LIVE Streaming facilities
- Principal’s log (video message). This was recorded in the noisiest area of the school which emphaisized how phenominal this equipment is at noise cancelling. If you missed this, click HERE to listen.
On the prostate awareness day, we used the gimbal along with the iPhone and the microphone to capture the speaker’s message. The message was CLEAR.

How do we see the future use and benefit of the Podcast Room?
(a) Subject teachers can create videos of their content for reinforcement and also if they are unable to be at school for any reason
(b) School Leaders can share their vision and direction with the students/parents
(c) The Principal can continue to do a monthly message to the JC family
(d) The Clubs and Societies can share their monthly or weekly podcasts. e.g. Automechanics’ club can give car tips
(e) Sports Highlights and LIVE Streaming
(f) JC Press Club have technological support with the new equipment and facility. They can better share “What’s going on at JC”.
