Hon. Karl Hendrickson donates 1,600 chairs to Jamaica College’s Auditorium
The symbolic handover of 1600 new chairs by the Hon. Karl Hendrickson to Jamaica College on Monday February 23, 2026.
This generous and significant donation took place during the school’s Monday morning assembly inside the Auditorium named after Mr. Hendrickson, a facility which was itself donated by him in 2011.

Hon Karl was unable to attend, but was ably represented by his grandsons Matthew Lyn, Craig Hendrickson and Alex Hendrickson.
In receiving the chairs, Principal Wayne Robinson expressed the profound gratitude of the school and lauded Mr. Hendrickson’s selfless and ongoing generosity to the boys of Jamaica College.

Chairman Lance Hylton noted that Mr. Hendrickson had selected the chairs himself, making sure that they were of the finest quality, able to support the thousands of boys that would use them, while being attractive enough to serve the purpose of being rented out for the many revenue earning functions put on at the Karl Hendrickson Auditorium.

The chairs themselves cost approximately Five Million Jamaican Dollars (J$5,000,000.00) and were part of a larger donation of Ten Million Jamaican Dollars (J$10,000,000.00) made to Jamaica College by Karl Hendrickson over the past year.

“As a gesture of its gratitude, the school presented the Hendrickson Family with an original portrait of Mr. Karl Hendrickson”
