The sleeping giant wakes…
At Jamaica College the headline news blazed the trail of Academic prowess, Athletic records being broken, STEAM infusion successes and our Blu Beat Drummers creating a ‘Blue’ wave in Jamaica as being one of the best high school groups. Whilst all this was going on, we heard little of what was going on with Music at Jamaica College. After having the iconic, veteran musician and educator, Michael ‘Ibo‘ Cooper as one of our Old Boys who made his mark in the Industry and in most recent times, the 8-Band, a team of 8 musicians and singers who are still out there entertaining, JC graduates. The ‘giant’ slept. We did not hear much about music at JC. Most did not know of the arrival of Mr. Romeo Lewis, our music teacher who joined us in September 2022. He came and certainly woke the ‘giant’.
